Codices

The codices are first-hand historical sources in which indigenous societies, through scribes with the ability to paint with great skill, made a faithful record of their achievements and cultural and scientific advances and reported on a multitude of aspects, such as beliefs religious, rites and ceremonies, history, the economic system and chronology, among many others.

It is called codices, from the Latin codex: manuscript book, to pictorial documents or images made as cultural products of the great civilizations that emerged and developed in Mesoamerica.

The figures that make up this collection are obtained from the drawings found in the codices. That is to say, the artisan takes as a basis the drawing and from there using his creativity he shapes the sculptures that we present here. For this reason, each figure obtained from codices is UNIQUE and no replica of it can be found.
